Nevertheless, it seems that it has contributed to increased solidarity, and determined individuals and organizations to be more responsible, at least concerning health-related aspects. Companies around the world have been involved in supporting the health care system and minimizing the impact of the pandemic on economies around the world. During the COVID-19 pandemic, companies were motivated by utilitarianism and deontological factors to get involved in philanthropic CSR actions in the toughest moments of the pandemic. Banks seem to be no exception. Even more, during this pandemic, banks have done much to rehabilitate their reputations, tarnished during the previous financial and economic crises. This paper aims to analyze the perception of the involvement of Romanian banks during the pandemic, especially for overcoming the crises of the healthcare system. The findings could guide banks to be more consistent and better communicate their CSR activities and involvement for the benefit of society, and helps understand how people observe and evaluate the CSR efforts of banks.Item How Customers Perceive Banks' CSR Initiatives(Universitatea "Stefan cel Mare" Suceava, 2022-08-18) Marcu, Roxana Mihaela; Zbuchea, Alexandra; Oprescu, ClaudiaThe pandemic context shows signs of stability. During these complicated times for all, banks were extremely vigilant toward the evolution of the sanitary crisis. Banks came up with quick solutions to protect the health of their colleagues and clients. And they have been open to adapting their strategy to the changing data from the field. This paper analyzes the perception of the involvement of Romanian banks in corporate social responsibility during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study reveals that the activity of banks during the pandemic, evaluated positive to some extent, does not significantly impact the level of trust in the banking system. The findings could guide banks from Romania to better communicate their CSR projects and impact on the community. Despite the difficulties brought by the pandemic, it is natural for banks to take a step forward and think about the way they will define their CSR strategy in the future. Altogether, our findings could help the banking system learn to be even more empathetic and understanding towards clients and to be present in the community. During the pandemic, banks have done much to rehabilitate their reputation, impacted by the previous economic crisis. Item Learning from financial practice(Lambert Academic Publishing, 2015) Treapăt, Laurențiu Mihai; Anghel, Lucian Claudiu; Gheorghiu, Anda; Ivan, IonThis book aims to address a wider target audience in comparison with the one that each of its component works used to address. The four works that make this book belong to several highly professional specialists in the financial field, each of them with more than 20 years of practice behind. Their papers are the result of an outstanding experience in the financial-banking field but also of their teaching and research activity until now. Consequently, these works were published in academic journals and communicated within international conferences. For this reason, the main beneficiaries of these papers were professors, researches and also students, as usual participants to these activities and events. Our wish is to share the practical experience of these specialists to an even wider public, not only to thus make it more marketable in bookshops and libraries. The applicative relevance of the book is indisputable both for young people who are studying, still in university, but also for professionals at the beginning of their career, masters', doctoral students, whether it is a career in sales, in the financial area, or any other kind of company, which in one way or another are interested in the relationship between risk and corporate brand.Item Manual de studii de caz şi bune practici bancare(Tritonic, 2013) Treapăt, Laurențiu MihaiItem The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Banking Sector(Sciendo Faculty of Management (SNSPA), 2021-06) Marcu, Roxana MihaelaThe purpose of this paper is to contribute to the academic research in the management field, by exploring banking strategies implemented during complex crises, with a focus on the recent pandemic. To improve the comprehension of the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic we analyzed the differences between the crisis from 2008-2009 and the crisis induced by the pandemic. The banking system has always been at the center of the crises, both in 2008 and in the 1930s, but this time the situation is different because now, we are facing a crisis that is related to systemic health issues. In the previous crises, banks were considered as part of the problem, but this time they are perceived as part of the solution. This approach increases the role of banks in the coronavirus crisis and the strategies adopted by banks influence the whole economy. The pandemic has changed the world economy entirely and impacted tremendously most businesses. The banking system plays an essential role in this situation because it is a key component from an economic point of view. In recent years, the banking system has adapted continuously – it has been reinvented to keep up with customer expectations and the need for cost reductions. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digitalization in the banking system although, the need for innovation and digital strategies have been an important factor in banking even before the pandemic had started. We present furthermore an opinion based on a narrative literature review and a summary of the most important elements that redesign the banking system during the COVID-19 pandemic context. The literature regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications for the banking system is still developing since the pandemic is an unfolding new experience for the world.
