Human rights form the foundation and the essential mechanisms that societies must uphold and guarantee for all. The right to education is fundamental in a society that seeks to empower its citizens to exercise their freedoms effectively, engage actively. This paper also explores the realities of Romanian society concerning the environmental challenges that affect access to education drawing on data from the UNICEF 2024 Report. According to the report, 242 million students worldwide have faced disruptions in their education due to extreme weather events such as typhoons, floods, and heatwaves. In Romania, nearly 700,000 children have experienced school interruptions caused by extreme weather conditions, underscoring the broader impact of the climate crisis on global education, leading to school closures and even the destruction of educational institutions, particularly in vulnerable communities. In this context, the threats posed by climate change to human rights must be examined within the framework of a new era, one in which climate change represents one of the most significant challenges facing society today.enSustainable Development2030 AgendaSOCIAL SCIENCES::Social sciences::EducationClimate ChangeClimate Justice [K38]Human rights and the impact of environment al challenges.
